As CEO and Chairman I provide the strategic leadership and vision for Vyatta, a venture- and industry-funded company that is causing a major disruption in the networking industry.
Vyatta produces the only open networking operating system in the world. That distinction unlocks profound strategic advantages: x86 hardware agnosticism to leverage Moore’s law from whichever vendor shows it best, at any point in time… hypervisor agnosticism to fit in every virtualization strategy… and extensibility to fit into strategic IT designs.
Simply put, Vyatta is the world’s first modern networking operating system. Intel is driving the performance forward at a shocking rate, and global telecoms and massive clouds are adopting Vyatta for operating networks. Vyatta is a powerful disruption of a staid, trapped, $10B industry that never really had the benefit of choice.
As for me, I live for technology disruptions. I’ve played a role in the open systems computing revolution in the datacenter, helped build companies with disruptive technologies and take them public, and confer with really exciting startups that change massive landscapes in one fell swoop.
That said, Vyatta is the most exciting one for me ever. Open systems change the rules and the industry, and at Vyatta we are bringing the full force of this to a multi-billion-dollar market that’s screaming for the benefits of open systems.
Thanks for reading my posts, and please add your comments as they help me understand where people’s heads are. As “the Red Hat of Networking” we generate of much confusion, skepticism, and (ultimately) converts. It’s a cerebral process for each of us. It’s also an amazing ride.
